My interest in gardening and landscaping was inspired and nurtured by my family’s historical involvement in farming and civil engineering.  Generations of Kilmisters farmed in and around Rodmarton, near Tetbury in Gloucestershire.  My mother’s family farmed in Henbury, Bristol, and my grandfather, Stan, was a tea and coffee grower in India and Kenya.  My father’s family were civil engineers working abroad on projects in Egypt, Sri Lanka, Malta, Fiji  and Cyprus.  Graft those two interests together and you have in me a landscape gardener!

In recent years I have designed and built a dozen small gardens, while my other work includes garden restoration, the building of patios and decking areas and the construction of garden buildings.

While working with my colleague Rob Wimperis at the Selsley Herb Farm, I exhibited at Royal Horticultural Society events at Hampton Court Flower Show, The Malvern Spring Garden Show and at Gardener’s World Live at the NEC, where we were awarded several RHS certificates.

I am currently the Head Gardener at The Manor House, Wheatley, where, for one weekend a year, usually in mid-June, the owners open the garden to the public as part of the National Gardens Scheme.
